Tobin & Collins took me, a senior in college with no experience, under their wing. They helped me grow as an accounting professional by giving me both hands on experience and guidance. The Tobin & Collins internship program allowed me to work within the firm, including working with all staff from administrative employees to partners. Through the internship, I was able to learn so much more about public accounting, more than I would learn in a classroom. This real-life experience with the firm gave me opportunities I thought were impossible and I am glad to say that my second tax season with this firm would be my transition from a tax intern to a junior accountant.

I started working at Tobin & Collins as an intern in 2007 and I am currently a Supervisor at the firm. Throughout my years here, I have had the opportunity to learn from my more experienced colleagues and also pass my knowledge down to accountants just starting out in their careers. My experience with Tobin & Collins began when I interned for the firm during my senior year of college. Tobin & Collins is a mid-size firm. This is an ideal environment for accountants looking to be exposed to a wide variety of different client types (and for clients looking for well-rounded accountants). Every staff accountant works on individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, pension plans, and even valuation work through Beacon. We learn so much here and are given the opportunity to partially specialize after exposure to many different disciplines. We also have the opportunity to draw on all of the experience of the others that work here, which would not be available at a very small firm.

I joined Tobin & Collins in November of 2001. I left my firm in New York City after the 9/11 attacks. I was sad to leave my old firm but was welcomed in by Tobin & Collins and made to feel part of the firm immediately. As a senior accountant I handled all facets of work and built relationships with my clients through open communication. The partners were always available for guidance and direction when I needed them. After having my first child in March of 2003, I came back to the firm as a part-time employee. This is my 15th year as a member of the Tobin & Collins family and it is my home. The firm has allowed me the flexibility through support and technology to find a balance between work and family and I have grown as a professional.

I worked in Tobin & Collins form 2008-2011, starting with zero accounting experience and leaving as a CPA. I stayed at home for couples of years to take care of my children. When they become older, I came back. The reason I’m back is Tobin & Collins respect work life balance. It is very important for a Mom with two young children. I currently work on a very flexible schedule so that I can manage to take my daughter to ballet and art courses on weekdays. People at Tobin & Collins are very friendly. Each year on my birthday, I receive a card with signature of all my coworkers. They even wrote “Happy Birthday” in my native language!
